The West Midlands has now overtaken London as the knife crime capital of the UK, with knife crime rates 8.3% higher than in the capital. The research was focused on London, which accounts for over a third of all knife crime in England and Wales, reaching a record high of over 14,500 offences last year. More than a third (36%) of all children and young people said they no longer felt safe in their neighbourhoods, and two-thirds (64%) expressed anxiety about knife crime in their area.
